Entry from: Arica, Chile Entry Title: “Day 24 – Welcome to the West!” Entry: “This internet cafe has a fantastic soundtrack – since I’ve been sitting here we’ve had two renditions of “When I Fall in Love”, “Tequila” by the Champs and “Money Can’t Buy Me Love” by the Beatles! OK, the Arica blogs are going to get pushed into one as I’ve spent rather a lot of time here on the computer! I really want to try and catch up with the blogs so that I don’t forget anything – please don’t feel you have to read them all, though! When I jumped on the Tur Bus from San Pedro de Atacama to Arica, on the coast of Chile, I had a 11 hour journey ahead of me. The coach, though, was so good: it had heating, seatbelts and even a video which showed you the emergency exits! It left on time and there was a little dot matrix screen on the front telling you the registration number of the bus, the name of the driver and your current speed – this can be a little bit of a worry on some of the Peruvian buses! The seats had probably double the room of economy class, a more reclined seat and a footrest which folded all the way out. All in all, I fell asleep at 9pm and woke up as the bus arrived at around 6am. Result! Bleary-eyed I was handed a breakfast box containing some orange juice and a biscuit containing dulce de leche
